Neil deGrasse Tyson was born on October 5, 1958, on Manhattan. Neil deGrasse Tyson was an American astrophysicist, science communicator and author. His mother was Sunchita Maria. She was a gerontologist. His father was Cyril deGrasse Tyson. His father was African-American. He was the caption of a boxing team when he was reading The Bronx High School of Science.

His interest in astrophysics rose after visiting Hayden Planetarium at the age of 9. His first intellectual role model was Dr Mark Chartrand III, the director of Hayden Planetarium at that time. His interest in astrophysics kept increasing and studied astronomy in his teen years. At the age of 15, he delivered some lecture on this subject, thus he gained fame. The well-renowned astronomer Carl sagan tried recruiting him for the undergraduate studies.

Tyson rejuvenated this moment when he was doing his tv series named Cosmos: A space odyssey. Tyson took his honours degree in physics at Harvard University. Besides physics and boxing was also active in dancing. His styles include ballet, jazz and Latin ballroom.  His degree in physics at Harvard College in 1980 and started his graduate work at the University of Texas. From 1986 to 1988 Tyson was a lecturer in astronomy at the University of Maryland. He earned his M.phil in astrophysics during 1988 at Columbia University and the PhD degree in physics during 1991.

Tyson has done researches on cosmology, stellar evolution, galactic astronomy, stellar formation and bulges. He was associated in different posts during his work in Maryland University, Princeton University, Hayden Planetarium. He joined the Hayden Planetarium in 1994 as a staff scientist. He became the director of the same in 1996. He started a project worth of $250million which completed in 2000.

Tyson has written a ton of books on astrophysics, cosmology, maths. Some of his famous books are- astrophysics for people in a hurry, letters from an Astrophysicist, death by a black hole, accessory to war, the pluto files. space chronicles etc.
Tyson has also a great role in expanding the operations of NASA.

Tyson lives in the Tribeca neighbourhood along with his wife Alice Young. Miranda and Travis are the names of their children. His first meeting with his wife was at a physics class at the University of Texas. Tyson is also a wine enthusiast.

When Tyson was asked during a question session at the University at Buffalo if he believed in a higher power or not Tyson responded that every account of a higher power that we’ve seen described, of all religions that I’ve seen, include many statements with regard to the benevolence of that power.
